Weather pressure

Here in the UK the weather has been random. We've experienced mild temperatures one minute and freezing cold the next. And it seems to be a trigger for many of us.

I made the mistake, during an afternoon nap of sleeping with the window slightly open. The cool air was enough to cause a flare up of trigeminal neuralgia. I woke up with electrical pain and burning on the left side of my head and face.

I have also been experiencing nerve pain in my back. Whilst at work and feeling strong I lifted something heavy and i’ve been suffering ever since.

So after a decent few weeks of lower pain it’s back on. I’m reminded once again of how easily thing’s can change. Mentally i’m dealing with it quite well. I am keeping up with my daily meditation practice and adter being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol, am eating healthy.

I’m back to practicing management. Taking care of myself is now a priority as my pain is slowly ramping up. Hot baths with candles and music help me to de-stress. That and trying to keep my mental health on track with mindfulness and mild exercise. I may even take a trip to our local swimming pool. They also have a steam room and sauna which I find helpful. Heat helps with my pain.

I now have plenty of experience with flare ups. Each episode of trauma is another opportunity to learn. I am lucky to have an understanding wife. Life keeps rolling on and it’s my job to stay as present as possible. For now it’s time to batton down the hatches and do my best.
