Rest and relaxation

I am currently recovering from a period of intense flare ups and slipped discs. It’s been a rough few month’s but i’m glad to be on the mend. Meditation has improved my mental state and light exercise, like walking, has helped heal my spine. Now i’m just back to dealing with CPS pain. It’s painful but the familiar pain which we do get used to on some level.

I have mentally struggled lately. I always feel a bit in limbo after high pain levels. It draines me and leaves me feeling disconnected from life in general.

I am reminded every time I experience high pain levels that I need to adopt a routine of self care. Having added back trouble (degenerative disc disease) I especially need to take care of myself. Not always easy with my life so full but it’s the little things that make a difference.

Having young daughters takes up most of my energy. They are a lively little bunch to say the least so until their bedtime comes around it’s pretty hectic. I also work four mornings a week which tires me out, but I always make time to meditate. At least three times a day.

First thing in the morning, after work and before bedtime are my times for sitting still and stepping back from the chatter of the mind. And detaching from any emotional debri I may have picked up. It’s like a reboot every time I meditate. It sets me back on track mentally so I can better deal with my situation.

It is also the little things that contribute to my mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing. Taking short walks and soaking in a hot bath are some of the ways I can relax.

I am looking forward to this Christmas holiday. It is precious time spent with family. I just need to take a step back and try and relax as much as possible and make the most of the extra hands. And hopefully there will be a run of low pain. It’s all I want for Christmas Santa.
